Brian Vickers to Sit Out Dover
Thur May 13, 2010

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Red Bull Racing Team officials announced Thursday that due to a recent diagnosis of a medical condition, Brian Vickers will not compete in this weekend's NASCAR racing activities at Dover International Speedway.

Vickers, 26, driver of the No. 83 Red Bull Toyota, was hospitalized Wednesday evening and continues to undergo testing and further evaluation.

Casey Mears has been selected to drive for the team this weekend.

"It is unfortunate that I will not be able to participate in the Dover race. Casey is a good friend of mine, and I know he will do his best for the No. 83 team this weekend," Vickers said.

"Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery," said Jay Frye, RBRT General Manager and Vice President. "All things are looking good at the moment. This is just a minor setback. We appreciate Casey filling in this weekend and know he will represent the team well."

I'm a Jimmie Johnson , Kyle Busch, and Joey Longano fan. This might sound bad but when I'm bored i look up facts on Brian. Sometimes like at texas last year when Jimmie recked and i waz not to happy ( but i keep on cheering) I cheered for Brian. That might sound bad and a not loyal fan but he always seams to do pretty goood he can win.

Brian you need to take it slow and recover alot or even fully so you won't miss another race. I hope you are feeling better. Take ti day by day and don't rush. Watch the race if you can but don't worry casey might just endup winning or coming in the top 5 you never know. Just relax and kick back sleep later and kind of treet your self. the less you do the better.

Good luck and take it slow

Hey Brian, I hope that what you are getting tested for isnt too serious. But I know what that is like, getting tested, and waiting . I was Diagnosed with lymphoma last year and it was a very scary time. Again, I'm praying that it isnt something like that...but it must be serious enough to not race. No matter what, Prayers for you and I hope it is just a cold or something. Good luck and god bless.

Brian,

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I hope the doctors can find out soon what iswrong, and it won't be anything serious. I can relate to questions about health. Been there, done that. I am really concerned about you and hope you can get back soon. Whatever is wrong, if you put your lfe (if you have not done so already) in God's hand, He definitely will take care of you, and give you the strength to go through it. Again, I hope and pray all is well soon with you.

Best of luck and be blessed, my friend!

I'm going to miss watching you race this weekend and listening to you on RaceView and even though I'm sure Casey will do fine it definitely won't be the same without you. Brian,
" You got this" Speaking from experience on this medical problem.
Its tough, scary and very uncomfortable. I have followed you for years. You have had some heartbreaking moments in your racing life and this too, you will come thru. You have 2 Angels on your shoulder and the spirit to always rise to the challenge.

About a month ago, My wife was diagnosed with a blood clot in her leg that ran from her right ankle to the back of her right thigh. She was hospitalized for 5 days and they are still trying to regulate the blood thinner after 4 weeks since she was diagnosed.

Brian, be smart and don't get back in the racecar until you are 100% clear to do so. Especially with the clots being around your lungs, this is very serious and my wife and I just want you to be smart and to be careful. We know that you will have to go through more test and we hope that you recover from these blood clots no matter what caused them. Our prayers are with you for a speedy recovery.

I don't think Brian should be racing in the All Star Race or the Coke 600 with how long he would have to sit in the car for that long race but athletes have more resourses then most people and they might be able to get him ready in time but my wife and I both wish the best for Brian and that he recovers fully from this medical condition.

Brian, I know this situation may be hard to swallow because racing may seem like itseverything to you, but to your friends, family and loved ones your life and health are far more important. If rest and a break are what the lord intends, there's a reason behind it. Trust in HIM. Your In my heart and prayers. "Smile"

Brian I know what you're going through, because I'm going through the same thing. I have had 5 bouts of clots, and I'm on cumidin for the rest of my life. Take care and God bless Brian.

I've had clots in my legs on two separate occasions about 10 years apart. This has been a 16 year ordeal for me. I had my first clot in my right leg when I was about 25. The second when I was about 36. I was hospitalized both times for a week and put on IV blood thinners (Heparin). I was on thinners the first time for about five years then slowly stopped taking them. I thought I was OK then BAM, left leg hit. I have been on coumadin ever since. Also have to wear graduated compression stockings all the time to keep swelling in check.
Dont worry, within time, you should be able to get back to racing. I snowmobile all winter long and still try to do every thing I normally do. Legs just get tired more quickly now.....
Too bad your out for the season, it really screwed me in the pool I'm in.
TAKE CARE, hope to see you when I go down to the August Michigan race
